Knows Her Worth and Her Strength
Humans are creatures of habit. We show up at the gym day after day, landing in our typical spot on the floor—mine is right in front of the Transformation Wall.
I’ve looked at that wall many times over the last two years and thought, “what would my Transformation Story look like?” often concluding, “I wouldn’t look transformed enough to make it on that wall.” But as a lifelong athlete, I have struggled with all kinds of things that could use a transformation, not the least of which has been a battle with body image and always fighting the ‘performance’ mentality. It’s not surprising the Transformation Wall would, again, evoke the feeling of not quite measuring up.
But over time, I’ve realized the importance of shedding that mentality, of learning my worth is determined not by what I do but rather, simply, who I am.
I am still a work in progress, but Burn has become one of the things that has helped me see that I am enough. Each time I walk into the gym reminds me that I am strong, that I am capable, and that, yes, I can lift a little heavier or pick up the pace a bit. It has also shown me that when I am mentally and physically taking time to focus on myself in positive ways— regardless of how I perform—I can then show up more fully (and with more confidence) for my family, my career, and my community of friends.
You don’t have to make sweeping, physical changes to be transformed (though Burn will change you physically). This gym community will encourage you to show up consistently, to push yourself mentally, and to become a stronger version of you in whatever ways that you need. But more importantly, the encouragement you will feel from those around you will remind you that just showing up can turn whatever effort you have mustered that day into something that is enough.
